The Str
The soft glow of the evening sun
shone down on his tall figure, casting a shadow on the cracked pavement. The
warm breeze fluttered by, playing with his hair. His piercing grey eyes observed
his surroundings as people walked on by. A black sphere-shaped orb hung from a
delicate chain around his neck, glinting in the sunlight. A thousand different
colours swirled within the unusual object and some black writing circled inside
it. A pair of black army boots were tied firmly to his feet, his jeans clung to
his thighs, and his shirt quivered in the breeze.
An amazing pair of grey-white
wings exploded from his shoulder blades as he kicked the ground, threw his head
back and launched into the sky. Passers by stopped to examine the astonishing
young man as he floated in mid-air. A long silver sword appeared in his hand and
he slid it into a sheath that was tied to his hip. He looked into my eyes,
winked and flew off at an intense speed
.
I felt my heart beating in my
chest, and my cheeks blushed a deep red. I stared in bewilderment at him as he
flew into the horizon and disappeared. On the pavement, in the spot where he'd
been standing, there was the orb. I stood up, and walked towards the it,
oblivious of the people cautiously watching me retrieve whatever the mysterious
character had left.
The orb was warm in the palm of
my hand, and it wasn't much bigger than a bouncy ball. Deep reds and purples
swirled round inside the peculiar object. The writing was of a different
language, one that I didn't understand. The silver chain attached to the orb
looked delicate, but that didn't stop me from trying it on.
The moment I put the chain around
my neck, a pair of colossal, white wings burst out from my shoulder blades, and
pain ripped through my body, making me gasp. I stared up into the sky, tears
filling my eyes and making them sting. A strong blast of wind blew my hair back,
and a hand touched my cheek. "Come with me..." the deep voice
whispered.
Hand in hand, the man and I flew
off together into the horizon, leaving behind the normal citizens of earth.
