FOOTBALL: 2002
Deganwy versus Maelgwn
It started with a
Deganwy kick-off. Both teams made a fairly lively opening. Scott warmed them up
with an early opportunity as Deganwy pressed for the lead. And just as the game
had calmed down Steven volleyed on to the crossbar.
Maelgwn's right winger was really causing problems but Deganwy's solid, tight defence held out very well. Finally towards the end of the first half Julian broke the deadlock by exquisitely finishing a long range effort. Not long later the half-time whistle went.
Maelgwn started off the
second half. Owen instantly had a great opening for Deganwy but the Maelgwn
keeper clawed it away. Calum made a brilliant save which was instantly followed
by Owen slotting the ball home for 2-0. Alan made a great cross but Maelgwn
marked tightly and just took it away from Julian.
It was a while
before the next chance came but it was worth the wait. Chris blasted it against
the post from outside the penalty box, dribbled it back into the area and scored
off the rebound.
Towards the end
of the game Alan burst into the area and thundered the ball home making it 4-0.
This was the final score. It was a good game but in the end
Deganwy came out on
top.
