| When we arrived we were met by a Roman soldier called Chris. We all marched after him through the streets of Dewa (Chester) with Roman shields. We were led to the Roman Gardens where we were told our new rules as Roman Soldiers. The girls had to pretend to be boys. |

We had to pretend to fight with our shields and imaginary swords. We had to punch with our shield and stab with swords and let out a war cry. |

Luke
put on the roman helmet. The Roman said that the helmet was very strong.
He got his sword and tried to cut Luke’s head and ears off. It was quite
funny. |

We had to march back
to the museum shouting SIN, SIN, SIN, DEX, SIN (Left, Left, Left, Right,
Left) loudly. We had to march in twos in a long straight line. It was fun
shouting. |

We went to the Roman baths. Kieron and Shania acted a little play about how slaves used a special tool to scrape the dead skin off their master's back. |

The
guide showed us layers
in the ground from different periods of time, with the Roman layer right
at the bottom. We went to an activity room in the museum. There were many different activities like build a little model bridge, or fire a catapult into a Celtic hill fort. Thomas built a central heating system for the Romans called a hypocaust. |
