Butterfly Club

The club chase after a butterfly |
The club is open to children in Year 6 and meets during the spring and summer terms.
We walk on the Vardre, an uncultivated hill near our school, looking for butterflies. We have to keep quiet so we won't scare them away. When we see a butterfly we stay quiet and keep still then tell Mrs.Gunn who waits for it to land on a leaf or plant so that we can identify it - you can't identify any butterfly in flight.
The Vardre is an ideal site for butterflies because it has its own micro-climate. Species seen so far this summer include:
Orange Tip Small White
Green Veined White Small Tortoiseshell
Holly Blue Speckled Wood
Common Blue Large White
