Book Quiz 2007

In the annual county and inter-county book quiz children are given 5 books to read and be quizzed on. They also have to write a short 5 minute playlet on a chosen book. Nearly all the children in Years 5 and 6 got together in small groups to produce their own little plays, the best one of which was chosen to enter the competition together with a quiz team of 4 children. Our little play was based on the book 'A Dog called Grk!'

First our selected quiz team and actors competed against other schools in the county at the community centre, Conwy. Ysgol Deganwy was one of three schools chosen to go forward into the North East Wales finals, which was held near the end of June at Theatr Clwyd, Mold. Twelve schools from the counties of Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham took part.

The standard of performance of the playlets by all the schools in the final was high. Though Deganwy did not win, all the children greatly enjoyed the experience.

The author, Steve   , gave every competitor an autographed copy of one of his books. Earlier he had made a highly entertaining presentation.
