Bike It 2010

To encourage the children to cycle more and to cycle to school we had a special Bike It month.

There was a competition with a chance to win a new free bike. Vouchers were given to you every time you cycled to school and the one with the most vouchers won the bike. The winner was Thomas Weyman, who was able to choose his bike from Halfords.

During one of the weeks as many as125 different children cycled to school.

One day Dr Bike, a bike expert, spent all day at school. He trained a bike crew of 7 boys and girls how to service a bike and then the crew serviced all the other bikes and they filled in an evaluation sheet for each bike.

Mr Anthoine, who is a keen cyclist, demonstrated the different parts of a bike.

There was a Bling Your Bike competition in which children decorated their bikes. Mr Jones, chair of the governors, and Mr Plemming did the judging.

The whole month was successful and since then many more children have been cycling to school.
